Enjoy!
"It Came From Vapor" is a series of short to mid-length tracks by dark ambient project Mister Vapor. Moods vary. The music tends to be swirling and melodic, like a tuneful fog. Included, incidentally, is an authorized remix of one of Kit Watkins' famous "Thought Tones" pieces. This release makes for easy listening in the darker spectrum.
Not much new here. Been enjoying my new position at the local library. It keeps me a little busier.
As for music, I am an independent artist again, which is liberating. Best wishes to my old label. I was unable to adhere to their policy of only releasing "official" cds (not cdrs) or vinyl. Those deals are hard to find, so that effectively hamstrung my operations as an active indie musician.
And I guess I am not in it for the money, as there are 2 things I would have to do that I am not going to do:
1. Go on tour. I will do some live stuff, like my show on WDBX, but I am keeping it small for now. I don't like performing much in front of groups.
2. Acquire a huge expensive studio. I can't afford it, and am not going to do it. I enjoy PC sample manipulation, and that' where it's at for me.
So, I guess I won't be rich or famous from music.
But I sure will have fun!
This release originally came out in 2004 on Seetyca's "Mbira" label as a cdr. It is a series of arctic ambient pieces inspired by the Jensen Arctic Museum in Monmouth. The conception was Seetyca's, and mystified added a few soundloops and other elements. Final mixing was by Artin Mucht. The result is stark, cold, and beautiful-- Treetrunk hopes you enjoy it.
In 2009, The Ghost Between The Strings approached Mister Vapor with some interesting guitar-based loop structures, proposing that Vapor remix the loops, adding percussion and other light touches. The result is an engaging, often gritty industrial sound that makes a good sequel to "Urbscape". Music for driving in the city at night.
In Mid-2009, mystified asked some of his peers if they would try remixing his sounds. He was especially happy with 9 of these remixes, and wanted to release them together to give people a chance to listen.
These 9 remixes vary in style but all are high in quality and all do exciting things with the sounds of mystified.
